Ghost House began as a temporary public art installation in Austin, TX in 2018. The brightly colored wire-frame structure pays homage to the ubiquitous two bedroom bungalows of the post WWII era. This project pays tribute to a unique period in American architecture as well as create a conspicuous marker of their disappearance amidst drastic socioeconomic shifts.
Cited during local nonprofit Six Square Austin’s annual District Cultural Arts Festival, various artworks and personal memorabilia from long-time residents were installed within the structure in order to highlight the personal stories and true nature of residential architecture. Later in 2018, these structures were relocated to Auditorium Shores during the official City of Austin New Year’s Eve celebration.
In 2019, we relocated these structures to their permanent home where they became built out as two separate buildings - a backyard office and tool shed.
